Planned Giving

Leaving a legacy with Blessings in a Backpack

One of the many ways to make a gift to Blessings in a Backpack is by naming us in your will or trust. Some supporters might choose this option so they can leave a lasting contribution without affecting current financial security and freedom. Planned (or estate) gifts offer an avenue for supporters to leave a legacy of fighting childhood hunger.

If you have already included Blessings in a Backpack as a part of your estate plans, we would love to know so we can add you as a member of our Apple Legacy Council, reserved for those who are invested in the future of kids across America. You can complete the enrollment form and mail or email it to Sydney, whose contact information is at the bottom of this page.

Members of the Apple Legacy Council receive:

* Printed quarterly newsletters

* Welcome letter from Blessings in a Backpack CEO

* Blessings in a Backpack gear

* Inclusion in Blessings in a Backpack’s annual report

Will: A will is a document that is read by a county court that states your final wishes. This is one of the most common ways to leave a bequest/gift. You can review sample bequest language you might include in your will below.

Living trust: A living trust is a written legal document through which your assets are placed into a trust for your benefit during your lifetime and then transferred to designated beneficiaries at your death by your chosen representative.

Retirement Plans or IRA: Supporters can also name Blessings in a Backpack as a beneficiary to their qualifying retirement plan or IRA.
